Mark Yamanaka — 14-time Nā Hōkū Hanohano award winner, Mark Yamanaka, is proud to call Hilo, Hawaiʻi his home. A father of 2, Mark released his debut album, Lei Pua Kenikeni, in 2010. It went on to win 4 of the most coveted awards at the 2011 Hōkūs and in 2013, he followed that success with the release of Lei Maile. Just as successful as its predecessor, Lei Maile also received 4 awards at the 2014 Hōkūs. In 2015, he collaborated with his close friends, Kūpaoa, to release a holiday album, A Gift of the Heart. That album was named Christmas Album of the Year at the 2016 Hōkūs.

After a 5-year hiatus from his solo Hawaiian releases, Mark is thrilled to share his latest collection of songs on this 2018 release, Lei Lehua. He has never released a selection as personal as this one, with 8 of the 14 tracks written or co-written by himself. Lei Lehua is a celebration of Mark's love for his hometown, his love for his family, and his growth as a musician, vocalist, and composer. In 2019 Mark was honored to win 5 Nā Hōkū Hanohano awards for this project including: Album of the Year, Song of the Year (Lei Lehua), Male Vocalist of the Year, Island Album of the Year, and Single of the Year (Morning Drive). Like his previous albums, Lei Lehua is an unforgettable garland of songs, sure to adorn your heart and mind.

Jon Yamasato —Originally born in West Covina, CA. Jon has been living in Honolulu, Hawaii for the last 30 years. Raised in Hawaii Kai, he loves his job and spending time with his wife (Stacey) and daughter (Nysa). Throughout college, Jon worked professionally as an entertainer. First in a band called "Pure Heart" which won 5 Na Hoku Hanohano awards (Hawaiian Grammy). He then began touring the mainland US and producing other bands such as (Keahiwai, Round and Round, Imua). In 2003 Jon signed on with Prudential Locations LLC under the wing of local Real Estate legend, Rodney Mukai. As the "Mukai Group" Rod and Jon have put together over 150 real estate transactions with sales in excess of $100 million.

Herb Ohta, Jr— Herb Ohta, Jr. has been playing the ʻukulele since he was just the tender age of three. Being in the music business now 35 years, Herb has recorded 16 solo recordings, 13 duets, co-wrote 2 ʻukulele instructional books, and released a songbook in Korea. He currently has 28 recordings out in circulation. Honolulu Star Advertiser entertainment editor John Berger writes, “For ʻukulele fans who prefer unpretentious technical proficiency over theatrics, Herb Ohta, Jr. is the undisputed master ʻukulele instrumentalist of his generation.”

Norm — A proud Kahuku Red Raider, Norm broke out on the scene in the late 90’s with his first single “Hawaiian Born”. Soon after that, he would be a household name in the island music scene with releases such as “Party”, “Polynesian People”, Groove Witcha” and “Lonely” just to name a few. Not too many people know this, but before he released his first album, he was featured on his childhood friend’s album. His childhood friend was the late George “Fiji” Veikoso and the song was “Nothing Comes To Sleepers” off of the album entitled “Born & Raised”.

Ticketing & Information

Every last Saturday in June, July and August of 2026, join our emcee Kimo Kahoʻāno on Waimea Valley’s Main Lawn (June & July) and Upper Medow (August) for an afternoon of Hawaiian mele and hula. Bring your dance moves, your aloha spirit, and your friends and family.
