Learning Through
Place at Waimea Valley
E hele mai - come learn with us at Waimea Valley!
Join our educators for an immersive, place-based learning experience that brings the classroom to the ‘āina. Through meaningful engagement with the ahupua‘a of Waimea, students cultivate pilina - deep, reciprocal relationships with Hawai‘i, the ‘āina (land), the wai (freshwater), and the wahi pana (storied places) that connect us to the histories and knowledge of this place.
At Waimea Valley, learning extends beyond the classroom. Through kilo (careful observation), hands-on exploration, and culturally grounded educational experiences, student develop a deeper understanding of the natural world, Hawaiian knowledge systems, and their kuleana to care for the places and communities to which they belong.
