Hiʻipaka LLC - Waimea Valley on Oahu's North Shore is seeking full-time and part-time Retail and Visitor Service Associates to join our team. This position is responsible for ensuring that visitors have an excellent experience at Waimea Valley. The position duties include welcoming and informing visitors at the Visitor Center, retail sales in the Gift Shop, processing admissions transactions in the Ticket Booth, providing shuttle service to the waterfall, and monitoring our beach parking lots.

Hiʻipaka LLC - Waimea Valley on Oahu's North Shore is seeking a manager to oversee the Retail and Visitor Services department. The ideal candidate will bring strengths in business management, customer service and people management, be an excellent team player and a leader in providing an exceptional visitor experience.
This position collaborates with the Executive Director and Assistant Executive Director of Visitor Experience to optimize the retail and customer service operations at Waimea Valley. The manager will motivate their team to establish a sense of welcoming and promote opportunities to educate visitors about the human, cultural, and natural resources of Waimea Valley. The manager will also craft the Retail experience to reflect the values of the organization and develop a successful product mix of local and Native Hawaiian made/designed merchandise.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Ensure operational excellence of the Waimea Valley Visitor’s Center, gift shop, ticket booth, shuttle service and beach parking.
2. Hire, train, develop, evaluate and motivate a high performing and engaged Retail and Visitor Services staff; ensure positive employee engagement while taking ownership of department controls, following SOPs, accounting best practices, implementing safety, security, scheduling and compliance with state and federal laws.
3. Work with the Executive Team to achieve department sales and productivity goals.
4. Participate on the management team at Waimea Valley, demonstrate excellent teamwork and supervision. Support Waimea Valley management through identifying solutions, effectively communicating and delegating to colleagues and direct reports.
5. Ensure a high level of business management of the department, including daily accounting sales and admissions; tracking, reporting and responding to trends; implementing strategic buying and merchandising for the gift shop; identifying and suggesting promotion opportunities.
6. Develop departmental work plans and budgets, set business plans and execute them in a timely manner.
7. Lead by example in excellent visitor service – teach and coach staff to refine their customer service skills. Collaborate with management to ground customer service staff values in the company culture of hoʻokipa.
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE
1. Bachelors degree in business or a related field, or equivalent work experience required
2. Minimum ten (10) years in retail sales management or similar position required.
3. Significant experience in the visitor industry preferred.

Hi`ipaka LLC, Waimea Valley on the North Shore of Oahu is seeking a full time Botanical Gardener to work on the botanical collection and grounds of Waimea Valley. The Gardener's primary objective is to preserve, enhance, cultivate and care for plants in the botanical collections.
Waimea Valley is seeking a botanical gardener to work from Tuesday to Saturday: 40 hrs per week; 8 hours per day.
Qualifications:• Must be familiar with gardening tools and equipment used to cultivate and care for the botanical collections.
• Must have knowledge of tropical gardening practices.
• Must have the ability to read and understand chemical labels and SDS sheets and apply fertilizers and pesticides to maintain plant collections and property.
• Must be people-oriented and able to work well with others.
• Must have good oral communication skills.Training and Experience
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience in tropical gardening and trained in chainsaw use.
• Valid Driver's License required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
1.Volunteer and Docent Support:
Recruits, screens, and assigns volunteers and docents to various programs and provides hands-on support, supervision, and training.
Coordinates new volunteer and docent orientation and training.
Works with the Grants and Evaluations Manager and Training Coordinator to develop standards of conduct and training programs for volunteers and docents.
Responsible for coordination and supervision of all records, waivers, and logistics for volunteer and service-learning programs.
Responsible for coordination and supervision of docents, volunteers, and volunteer groups and providing hands-on support, supervision, and training.
Coordinates and communicates with the botanical, cultural programs, conservation, retail & visitor services, and facilities departments to create valuable projects for volunteers and the Valley.
Works with the Grants and Evaluations manager to develop recognition and appreciation programs for volunteers and docents and coordinates such efforts. Encourages Hi`ipaka staff to support volunteers.
Works with the Grants and Evaluations Manager to resolve any problems involving volunteers.
2. Community Outreach:
Participates in outreach to social, civic, and local organizations, as well as individuals, about volunteer, docent programs, and activities in Waimea Valley as assigned by the Executive Director and Grants and Evaluations Manager.
Assists with the development and support of voluntourism efforts, social media marketing, and other marketing initiatives.
Composes the monthly Volunteer Newsletter and updates the website volunteer page and online volunteer events calendar. www.waimeavalley.net/volunteer
. Data Collection and Management:
Collects, monitors, and manages data from the volunteer program to help improve volunteer efforts and impact.
Works with the Data Collection specialist to monitor and manage information needed for quarterly reporting requirements, initiatives and goals.
4.Special Projects:
Works with the Executive Director and Grants and Evaluations Manager in the identification and implementation of special projects to improve organizational efficiency and operations.
Conducts research and analysis and provides recommendations on project implementation to address issues affecting organizational performance and efficiency.
Assist with the management and support of the carbon offset program and organizational sustainability initiatives.
Completes other assignments to improve office organization and office operations.
5. Positive and meaningful visitor experience and service are core values in the management and stewardship of Waimea

6. Regular attendance on a daily basis is required for this position.

Participates in community events and/or public relations activities as directed by LLC Managers and/or Executive Director.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
Must be people-oriented and able to work well with others.
Must be an excellent communicator with the ability to communicate (orally and in writing) to a wide range of people. Must feel comfortable with public speaking.
Must be able to type a minimum of 45 words per minute and have good knowledge of computers, including Microsoft Office, scheduling, and spreadsheet software packages.
Must be organized, a self-starter, and an effective planner. Must exercise independent judgment to prioritize projects and respond to situations as they arise without direct supervision.

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communication, or a related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
Experience in recruiting and training is highly desired.
Experience as a volunteer/docent and/or in working with volunteers/docents is highly desired.
Familiarity with basic computer programs (Excel, Outlook, Microsoft Word preferred).
Working knowledge of Hawaiian history and culture preferred.
Experience with tropical horticulture is preferred.
Community networking experience and knowledge of the community connections on the North Shore of Oahu.
MATERIAL OR EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED
Computer, calculator, typewriter, telephone, copy machine, fax machine, and other office equipment as required.
