Through the support from the Hawai'i Tourism Authority and The National Endowments for the Arts, Waimea Valley has been awarded grants to create the Nā Po'e Hana No'eau Visiting Artist Program. The funding will help raise awareness about the value and importance of preserving and the showcasing of traditional Hawaiian cultural forms, and invite artisans to create work based on the rich history and culture of Waimea. Nā Po'e Hana No'eau will serve as a needed venue to create and hone these Hawaiian crafts in a sacred place that was once home to expert artisans and cultural practitioners.
