King David Kalākaua, known as the “Merrie Monarch,” was a passionate leader who worked to preserve and promote Hawaiian culture, hula, and music. He is remembered for his dedication to Hawaiian traditions, the restoration of ʻIolani Palace, and his efforts to connect Hawai‘i with the global community.
