King Kamehameha’s Legacy

Kamehameha I, born in Kohala on the island of Hawaiʻi, was one of the greatest leaders in Hawaiian history. A skilled warrior and respected aliʻi, he united the Hawaiian Islands into a single kingdom by 1810, bringing an end to generations of conflict. Known for his strength, strategy, and leadership, Kamehameha I laid the foundation for a unified Hawaiʻi. His legacy lives on today that continue to shape Hawaiian culture and history.

In honor of his legacy, Kamaʻāina receive FREE admission to Waimea Valley. Come explore, learn, and connect with this living cultural landscape.
