  • Position Title: Executive Director - Hiʻipaka LLC (Waimea Valley)

    Employment Type: Full-Time

    Location: Oʻahu, Hawaiʻi

    Hiʻipaka LLC seeks an accomplished, mission-driven Executive Director to provide executive leadership and overall management of Waimea Valley, ensuring sound financial, operational, and strategic performance aligned with the cultural, historic, and natural stewardship mission of the Valley.

    The Executive Director is responsible for safeguarding Valley assets, supervising managers and staff, implementing approved strategies, and working closely with the LLC Managers to guide long-range planning, budgeting, operations, and community relations. The position requires strong leadership, financial expertise, and experience working with governing boards and diverse stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    • Executive or senior leadership experience in nonprofit, cultural, hospitality, or mission-driven organizations

    • MBA preferred with minimum 5 years executive management experience

    • Strong financial and operational management skills

    • Experience working with governing boards

    • Commitment to cultural and historical stewardship

    • Excellent leadership and communication skills

    Salary & Benefits

    $175,000 – $200,000 DOE
    Full benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, paid leave, life insurance, vehicle allowance, and potential annual bonus.

  • Position Title: Visitor Services Associate

    Reports To: Visitor Services Manager/Visitor Services Supervisor

    FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

    PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

    The Visitor Services Associate provides exceptional hospitality and logistical support to all guests entering Waimea Valley. As one of the first points of contact, this position ensures that visitors feel welcomed, informed, and prepared to experience the Valley’s cultural, natural, and educational offerings. Visitor Services Associates assist with Visitor Center, Admissions, Memberships, Parking Booth and Shuttle operations while sharing accurate information about Waimea Valley’s programs, amenities, and safety guidelines. They play a key role in emphasizing the cultural and historical significance of Waimea Valley as a sacred Hawaiian place, helping guests understand its importance.  

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

    Under the direction of the Cultural Programs Coordinator:

    1. Visitor Center: Greet and assist guests as they enter the Visitor Center, ensuring each visitor feels welcomed and informed. Provide accurate information about Waimea Valley’s botanical gardens, cultural programs, waterfall, and safety guidelines. Emphasize the cultural significance of Waimea Maintain cleanliness and organization of the Visitor Center and surrounding areas. Support volunteer and Ho‘okipa Ambassador efforts as needed to ensure consistent guest service coverage. 

    2. Admissions: Opens and closes Admissions area. Greets visitors and customers. Distributes marketing and promotional material to interested persons. Installs and removes marketing displays. Handles ticket sales for admission to Waimea Valley and special events in accordance with established procedures. Answers visitor and customer questions; refers complaints and similar comments to Visitor Services Supervisor or Manager. 

    3. Shuttle Service: Assist with the daily shuttle service for visitors and customers to and from the waterfall. Answer visitor questions and point out notable features and points of interest throughout the Valley, especially those of cultural and historical significance.

    4. Parking Booth: Serve as the first point of contact for guests upon arrival. Provide friendly and informative guidance regarding parking procedures, admission options, and general Valley information. Maintain a welcoming presence and assist with wayfinding and traffic flow as needed. 

    5. Beach Parking:    Assist with operating of Beach Parking including but not limited to collection of monies and answering of visitor and customer questions. 

    6. Housekeeping: Keeps Admissions and Retail Shop areas neat and clean. Works with Maintenance and Housekeeping staff to ensure that Admissions and areas are attractive, clean and in good working order. 

    7. Regular attendance on a daily basis is required for this position. 

    OTHER DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    1. Strives to  meet all customers  and visitor  needs  (i.e. provide directions, answer questions, assist with special requests). 

    2. Performs other duties as assigned by Visitor Services Manager.

    1. Must be people-oriented and able to work well with others.

    2. Must have working knowledge of retail sales systems.

    3. Must be able to operate cash register and handle cash.

    4. Must be organized and a self-starter. Must exercise common sense, good judgment, and be able to respond to situations as they arise with limited supervision.

    5. Must project a professional demeanor.

    6. Must have good oral communication skills.

    EDUCATION, TRAINING AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    1. High school diploma or equivalent required.

    2. Experience in customer service and sales or similar position preferred.

    • Computer  (word  processing  and  spreadsheets), calculator,  telephone, copy machine, fax machine, cash register, and other equipment as required.
