DAILY GUIDED ACTIVITIES

These are activities that are offered, three to four times a day, by our Programs Department. Please refer to our Daily Guided Activities schedule, talk to our greeter, or inquire at the Ticket Booth about today’s activities. Guided activities are subject to change.

KA 'IKE O NA KŪPUNA (The Teaching of the Kupuna)
kūpuna Stop by Hale Kipa, across for Kauhale, and enjoy the company of our kūpuna (elders and a source of knowledge) as they teach you about life in Hawai‘i through displays and demonstrations of Hawaiian artifacts, songs and dance, and crafts.
WHAT'S BLOOMING WITH DAVID ORR
Enjoy a leisurely afternoon stroll with our Botanical Collections Specialist, David Orr, as he takes you on a journey through the Valley, highlighting beautiful blooming plants and fruits along the way. this walk is offered on the 1st & 3rd Sunday of each month.
E HULA KĀKOU (Let’s Dance Hula)
Join us for a hula lesson to experience the Hawaiian culture through the dance of life.
NĀ MEA PĀ‘ANI NO KA WĀ MĀLIE (Quiet Time Games)
Children Playing Hawaiian Games Take a step back to quieter times to learn games that were played by individuals or small groups. Pala‘ie (loop and ball), (kukui nut tops), and kimo (jackstones) are some of the games that are played by kids of all ages.

NĀ LEI LIKE‘OLE (the Art of Lei Making)
Learn how to make a lei wili (a garland that is made by winding a string or another type of wrap around short lengths of materials). Most the materials that are used in this traditional lei can be found throughout our Valley.

NĀ MEA PĀ‘ANI MĀKAU (Games of Skill)
Hula Lessons Challenge your friends and family and test your skills at the Hawaiian Games Site. ‘Ulu maika (rolling stone disc), moa pahe‘e (dart sliding), and kōnane (Hawaiian checkers) will test your skills of accuracy and strategy.
